THE MUSIC CONSERVATORY
Aware of the many educational benefits that the teaching of music brings to the school curriculum, and, on the evidence of scientific research demonstrating the enhanced intelligence of its practitioners, the British International School has decided to resume the extracurricular activity of the Philharmonic Orchestra, creating the institution of THE MUSIC CONSERVATORY as an appropriate setting for the study and promotion of musical talent.
THE MUSIC CONSERVATORY will also provide pedagogical support for the teaching of values as part of the comprehensive education of our students by creating lifelong values of good study habits, respect, tolerance, creativity, group awareness and commitment.
Early Years:
In Year 1 and Year 2, the following instruments will be taught: piano, drums and violin. Students should choose two days a week from Monday to Thursday to practise their instruments.
PRIMARY:
Music classes from Year 3 to Year 7: 2:45 p.m. - 4:45 p.m.
SECONDARY:
Music classes from Year 8 to Year 13: 2:45 p.m. - 4:45 p.m.
Classes will be given in the following instruments: flute, clarinet, saxophone alto, saxophone tenor, trumpet, horn, piano, violin, violin cello, bass, electric bass, drums, folk percussion, electric guitar, acoustic guitar. Students should choose two days a week from Monday to Thursday to practise their instruments.
The Youth Philharmonic Orchestra programme is part of the International Baccalaureate curriculum and will be composed of students from the British International College from Year 1 to Year 13, whose group spirit and team work have equipped them with the personal and musical leadership skills required to perform at regional level.
