CITIZENSHIP AND CIVICS - SOCIAL BEHAVIOUR

The transmission of culture and civilisation characterises the world's truly developed nations. Today, a programme like ours, Citizenship and Civics - Social Behaviour is more than ever justified when the concepts of the "global village", of economic globalisation and the internationalisation of countries and culture demand much of the future leader; moderation, a competitive spirit and openness, but, at the same time, the preservation of national and local identities, integrity and transparency in negotiations, conciliation of personal interests with those of the group, a confident, easy social manner, elegance, and grace and courtesy in dealing with others. Our programme is directed towards the development of the values set out in the philosophy that guides the School, and which are defined in all the elements that make an urbane man a civilised man in all aspects of social and personal activity.

OBJECTIVES

  • Create graduates from the British School who are socially and morally sound individuals, able to function with elegance, simplicity and character in any situation that may present itself based on their identification with the principles of responsibility, self-control, honour, grace and human qualities.
  • Raise awareness in parents, teachers, students and administrative personnel as to the importance of human dignity and respect for this, for others and for institutions, and of the need to treat others in the proper manner and with humanity; in this way, from our interaction with others conducted with good manners, we may achieve an orderly, cultured coexistence, truly rewarding for those who participate in community life.
